Un volto nuovo e energico
In the heart of Berlin, Table Media is making waves in the journalism industry with its unique approach to news. Publisher Sebastian Turner, a seasoned professional with a keen eye for strategy, invests in heads with journalistic experience, specific expertise, and excellent networks.
Table Media's mission is to stand for a new kind of journalism, focusing on "Deep Journalism" and "Domain Competence". This approach is evident in their eleven Professional Briefings, three of which appear daily. The editorial directors of the ten specialist tables, coordinated primarily by Editor-in-Chief Michael Bröcker, are the real editors-in-chief of their respective tables.
One of Table Media's flagship tables is the "China.Table", a hub of journalistic depth with 12 China experts, including native speakers. This table, currently leading the charge in depth and expertise, is a testament to Table Media's commitment to understanding complex topics.
Michael Bröcker, with his experience in building a newsroom, podcasts, newsletters, and journalism for decision-makers from his time at "The Pioneer", brings a wealth of knowledge to Table Media. His deputy, Helene Bubrowski, who comes from the "FAZ" and previously worked in the parliamentary office in Berlin, provides valuable insights and support.
Helene Bubrowski and Michael Bröcker coordinate five tables each, but they are not the driving force behind the content. Instead, they ensure the smooth operation of the specialist tables, allowing the experts to focus on delivering high-quality, in-depth analysis.
Table Media covers a wide range of political areas such as security, agriculture, education, and climate, with their own briefings appearing once or twice a week. They also offer a comparable range of background briefings, with a focus on German legislative procedures with China relevance, as seen in their partnership with the "Tagesspiegel".
The business model of Table Media has raised some doubts from the political editor of a large daily newspaper, who questions whether enough customers are willing to spend up to 2,400 euros annually per professional briefing in the long term. However, Table Media has already surpassed the threshold of 1,000 paying institutions for their paid briefings, including the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which has concluded licenses for two relevant tables.
The new location of the rebuilt Café Einstein, once the kitchen of Sarah Wiener, is near the North Station. Sebastian Turner, the publisher of Table Media, has taken over the furnishings from the main branch of Café Einstein, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for the team and their guests.
Despite the doubts and challenges, Table Media continues to push the boundaries of journalism, providing in-depth analysis and expert insights to its growing audience. With its focus on Deep Journalism and Domain Competence, Table Media is redefining what it means to be a news organisation in the 21st century.
