Queste tempeste potrebbero unirsi ai venti stagionali provenienti dal nord-est, causando venti più forti e precipitazioni più intense.
La previsione arriva dopo un'estate caratterizzata da un aumento delle precipitazioni, meno sole e temperature leggermente più basse. Lo scorso mese sono state registrate precipitazioni intense per un totale di 767 mm a livello nazionale, il valore più alto per quel mese dal 1951. Autumn typhoons generally track west or northwest, according to the CWA. However, the prediction is also based on data on La Nina weather patterns. The CWA expects La Nina to develop by fall due to cooler Eastern Pacific sea temperatures.
In light of the forecast, the CWA has issued a warning for central and southern areas to conserve water due to the possibility of a dry spell. The public is advised to conserve water and monitor the CWA's weekly and monthly forecasts.
The CWA's prediction is not all gloom and doom. Above-average temperatures and rainfall are expected during the fall in Taiwan. Seven typhoons formed last month, the third-highest number since 1958, indicating a more active typhoon season.
