The Global Sumud Flotilla is supported by activists and individuals from 44 countries, including environmental activist Greta Thunberg, Brazilian Thiago Avila, German activist Yasemin Acar, French-Palestinian MEP Rima Hassan, and Wael Nawar from the Maghreb Sumud Flotilla, among others.
The "Family Boat" was sailing under the Portuguese flag and carrying steering committee members. Despite the setback, the organizers of the Global Sumud Flotilla have stated that acts of aggression will not deter them from their mission. The flotilla is set to sail on September 10, as originally planned.
