Ohio State Dominates Grambling State in a Lopsided Victory

Ohio State (2-0) easily won 70-0 against Grambling State in a one-sided match on Saturday. The Buckeyes showed off their offensive strength, scoring on eight of their first nine possessions and not punting until midway through the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Julian Sayin had an outstanding performance, completing 18 of 19 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns. Sayin broke the school record for completed passes to start a game, surpassing the previous mark of 17 set by Dwayne Haskins in 2018.

Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was a key player, catching five passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Tate, another Buckeyes receiver, scored a 13-yard touchdown in the second quarter, putting Ohio State up by four touchdowns. His previous touchdown was last week against Texas, a 40-yard catch.

Running back Bo Jackson added to the Buckeyes' offensive power, rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown. The Buckeyes gained 208 yards through nine plays on Saturday, compared to 203 yards in their last game against Texas, demonstrating their continued offensive efficiency.

Coach Ryan Day wanted Grambling State to play a clean game, but they had three turnovers. The first turnover of the second half was a fumble by Byron Eaton Jr., returned for a touchdown by Riley Pettijohn.

Grambling State's best drive resulted in a 12-play possession, but ended with a missed 36-yard field-goal attempt. Despite their efforts, the Tigers did not get into Ohio State territory after their best drive.

The victory was Ohio State's ninth in school history by at least 70 points and sixth via shutout. Two of Ohio State's wins with at least 70 points have come against historically Black colleges or universities.

Ohio State hosts Maryland in their next home game. Meanwhile, Grambling State hosts Kentucky State next Saturday. Coach Day and his team will look to continue their impressive form as they aim to build on their perfect start to the season.
