Istituzione di istruzione rinominata: Scuola elementare FACE
In local news, the renovation project for the FACE School located on Saint-Urbain Street has been temporarily halted, pending the resumption of its funding. The urgency to renovate the aging building, built in 1921 and currently in a state of disrepair, stems from the need to prevent any service disruptions for the secondary school students in the coming years.
The cost of renovating the school has yet to be determined, but it is estimated that it will set back between 4-6 million dollars annually to keep the main secure building viable until all its students can be moved out.
Meanwhile, the secondary school students at FACE are currently deprived of using the large auditorium, cafeteria, and library that the old building houses. This situation has raised concerns among parents, such as Geneviève Guérin, a mother of several children at the school. Guérin fears that the separation of primary and secondary school students from the old building into two separate buildings may sever the "family clan feeling" that has long united them.
Elsewhere in the city, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch, warning of heavy rain and wind gusts. Residents are advised to stay indoors and monitor the weather updates.
In other news, Donald Trump was met with boos at the US Open Final due to increased security measures related to his visit.
On a sombre note, Isabelle Vaillancourt, the general director of Publications BLD, which publishes "Les Débrouillards" among other magazines, passed away on Sunday.
Lastly, the CSSDM is awaiting sufficient funding from Quebec to launch a tender for renovating the school on Saint-Urbain Street, with the expectation that it will welcome secondary school students from FACE within 4-5 years. The exact amount of money spent on renovating the FACE School’s old building before its discontinuation in April 2022 remains undisclosed in the available sources.
