Brad Edwards, a lawyer for the victims, confirmed that the victims want all records released.
Anouska De Georgiou, another Epstein victim, stated that the only motive for opposing Mr. Massie's bill would be to conceal wrongdoing. Marina Lacerda, another victim, described her harrowing journey from Brazil, where she emigrated and worked multiple jobs to support her family, to meeting Epstein when she was 14.
The public backlash to the Justice Department's decision to close its Epstein investigation without releasing all of its records has been significant, particularly from Republicans' right-wing base. Haley Robson, another victim, has called to meet with President Trump to deny his repeated insistence that the call for the Epstein files was a hoax.
Despite the growing pressure, President Trump and Republican leaders have reportedly hindered legislation to release the Justice Department's investigative files on Epstein. However, members of Congress could still be swayed by vocal constituents unhappy about dodging a vote on transparency.
As the push for transparency continues, the discharge petition awaits the signatures of more lawmakers to bring the Epstein investigation into the light of day.
