Il finanziere Yunfeng Financial investe 44 milioni di dollari in Ether, in linea con la spinta di espansione di asset virtuali di Hong Kong
Yunfeng Financial Holdings Invests in Ether for Real-World Asset Tokenisation and Web3 Expansion
Hong Kong-based Yunfeng Financial Holdings, co-owned by Jack Ma, has announced a significant investment in Ether, a popular cryptocurrency. The investment, amounting to US$44 million for 10,000 Ether, will be used to support real-world asset tokenisation activities and form part of Yunfeng's strategic reserve.
According to the company's filings, this move is part of Yunfeng's push into "frontier areas", which also includes Web3 and investments in digital currencies like stablecoins. The filings further outline Yunfeng's plans for Web3, which involve increased investments in digital currencies and exploration of RWA tokenisation.
The names of the companies, a combination of the Chinese given names of its two founders, reflect Yunfeng's commitment to embracing new technologies and opportunities. The 70.15 percent shareholders of Yunfeng Financial Holdings, however, remain unnamed in the available search results.
Yunfeng's investment in Ether is not limited to its strategic reserve. The company is also actively exploring potential applications of Ether within its insurance business. Ether, with its blockchain technology, is seen as providing "key infrastructure support" for real-world asset tokenisation activities.
Last month, Yunfeng announced a major push into "frontier areas", which included Web3. The company generated nearly HK$2.8 billion in revenue last year from its insurance business, with a net profit of HK$471 million. Despite this strong financial performance, shares of Yunfeng closed down more than 8 per cent on Wednesday.
Yunfeng's plans for digital currencies extend beyond Ether. The company also plans to increase its investments in stablecoins, further demonstrating its commitment to the digital currency sector. As Yunfeng continues to explore and invest in these "frontier areas", it remains to be seen how these developments will shape the future of the financial industry.
