Despite the larger class size, the Class of 2026 is 12% larger than the Classes of 2025 and 2027, the college has managed to admit 900 students to the Class of 2026, which is 100 students over the projected amount. This has led to a strain on resources, with class sizes being inflated and academic advisors managing more students. Scholarship money has also been stretched to accommodate the larger class.

However, the cost of room and board for students living in the tent encampments will be significantly less, making it a viable option for many students. The tent encampments will offer a range of housing options, from quad tents to single sleeping bags.

In other news, the College of the Holy Cross recently hosted a Multi-Faith prayer event to welcome students back to the college. This event is a core aspect of Holy Cross's mission, which emphasizes welcoming all religions and individuals.

The college's Jesuit mission is also evident in its efforts to provide a wide variety of snack options in the campus lobby shop, including chips and cookies. Unfortunately, Band-Aids are not currently available for purchase in the shop.

The college has a limited number of rooms, making housing an ongoing issue. Some sophomores are staying in freshman dorms for an extra year due to the housing shortage.

Interestingly, the acceptance rate for prospective students in the upcoming cycle has decreased from previous years, with only 21% being accepted. This is a record-low admission rate for the college.

Despite these challenges, the College of the Holy Cross remains committed to its mission and to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for its students. The new tent encampments are just one example of the college's innovative approach to addressing the needs of its growing student body.
