The company is now implementing enhanced training programs, detailed checklists, and automation to prevent future errors. FanDuel has also refunded money to affected customers and disgorged any revenue from illegal wagers.
Daryl Olsen, chair of the Commission, expressed concern over FanDuel's frequent offenses, committing five mistakes within a short period of time. He hopes that FanDuel has learned from its mistakes and will rectify the issues to avoid future ones.
The Commission believes that some of the issues at FanDuel might be due to varying regulatory regimes in different states. They emphasised the need for consistency in applying regulations to both online operators and brick-and-mortar casinos, expecting high compliance standards from all monitored entities.
The Commission's view aligns with the American Gaming Association's Keep Your Cool initiative, which encourages gamblers to reject abusive behavior. FanDuel's policy to suspend harassers echoes this initiative.
Athlete harassment has been identified as a growing problem within the sports betting sector. The Commission insists that sportsbooks in Iowa should follow the Iowa regulations to ensure a fair and safe gaming environment for all.
