In the heart of Morocco, a coastal village named Taghazout has emerged as a haven for backpackers, surfers, and sun-seekers. Known as the capital of surfing and yoga culture, Taghazout has been attracting visitors since the 1960s, with legends like Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones gracing its shores.

Taghazout offers a diverse range of accommodations, from the rustic charm of Munga Guesthouse, with its Berber-inspired mini suites and regular suites, to the luxury of the Fairmont Taghazout Bay, which opened its doors in 2021. The Hilton Taghazout Bay Beach Resort & Spa and Hotel Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout, part of RIU's most elegant category, joined the scene in 2022.

For those seeking culinary delights, World of Waves Restaurant serves up a variety of smoothies, Moroccan-style tapas, and seafood tagine. Teapot Cafe is a local favourite for breakfast tacos and brunch, while Fairmont Taghazout Bay offers five-star Italian and Japanese fine dining at Paper Moon and Morimoto. Favela, the rooftop restaurant at Munga Guesthouse, serves Moroccan-meets-Mediterranean inspired cuisine.

Surfing in Taghazout caters to surfers of all skill sets. Beginners can start at Banana Beach or Panoramas Beach, while more advanced surfers should challenge the epic right-hand point break at Anchor Point and Boilers. Surf Berbere and Surf School Taghazout provide instruction for those looking to hone their skills.

Yoga enthusiasts will find daily sunrise and sunset classes at Munga Guesthouse, and the Taghazout Villa offers yoga and surf camps. The soul of the village is preserved amidst the development, with boutique shops, yoga studios, art galleries, and upscale dining coexisting harmoniously.

Taghazout's development is largely due to an ambitious national tourism project at Taghazout Bay. The Targant Museum, the world's first museum dedicated to the argan tree, offers Moroccan Cooking Classes and shopping for argan oil and prickly pear oil, supporting a cooperative of women in the region.

A short 40-minute drive from Taghazout lies Paradise Valley, a natural off-the-beaten path oasis offering hiking, swimming, horseback riding, and traditional Berber lunches with local families. The Bab Taghazout artisan market sells handicrafts, pottery, and carpets.

Francis Desjardins, general manager of Fairmont Taghazout Bay, stated that Taghazout has always been cherished. Red Clay Cafe, with its plant-based vegan pastries and bowls, and The Wedge, a scenic spot to enjoy a mint tea, add to the village's unique charm.

Whether you're a seasoned surfer, a yoga enthusiast, a food lover, or simply seeking a unique travel experience, Taghazout, Morocco, promises an unforgettable journey.
