Despite the challenging economic climate, Boohoo Group Plc's adjusted EBITDA climbed 3% to £41.6 million. However, the company's gross profit for the year ended 28th February 2025 fell from £479.3 million to £415.8 million. Operating costs for the same period dropped 15% to £375.5 million, resulting in an adjusted loss after tax of £43.4 million, a narrowing by 12%.
Boohoo Group Plc's annual results for the 12 months to February 29th, 2024, were published on May 8th, 2025. During this period, the company's inventory decreased by £135.8 million to £72.2 million, demonstrating a successful cost management strategy.
In a move to streamline its operations, Boohoo Group Plc is exploring a potential sale of its youth brand, PrettyLittleThing. Dan Finley, the group CEO of Boohoo Group Plc, announced this decision, stating that the company is looking to offload the brand. Dan Finley took over as group CEO in November 2024, replacing John Lyttle.
Gareth Smythe, CEO at M&A specialist Hilton Smythe, commented on the new financing deal, stating that it makes Boohoo Group Plc a sitting target for a takeover. The terms of the refinancing deal have raised some eyebrows, with concern over the increased interest rate and the potential implications for the company's future financial performance.
It's worth noting that Boohoo Group Plc completed the acquisition of PLT from Umar Kamani for £328 million in 2020. Since then, the company has reported a 12% drop in revenues for FY25.
A separate development sees Paragraf, a UK-based graphene technology company, securing £41 million in funding after being pushed to the brink. This funding will help Paragraf continue its research and development in advanced materials.
Boohoo Group Plc's share price has dropped again, though it remains ahead of its value last Wednesday. The company's strategic moves, including the potential sale of PrettyLittleThing and the refinancing deal, aim to position Boohoo Group Plc for long-term success in the competitive online fashion market.
