In the heart of Spain, the employees of Santander have been making a significant impact on local communities through the "Euros from your salary" programme. The latest edition of the programme, the 17th, saw an impressive 249 project submissions, out of which 17 winners were chosen. These projects, selected through a rigorous process involving 2,800 employees, will be financed through the Euros from your salary fund.
The fund, which totalled €695,788 in 2023, thanks to donations from employees and matching contributions by the bank, will support projects under the categories of Diversity & Inclusion, Responsible Banking, and Santander Effect.
The purpose of this programme is twofold. Firstly, it aims to support social projects that address community needs, especially during times of crisis. For instance, following the recent flash floods in Spain, the programme prioritized projects that helped clean up affected areas or supported impacted communities.
Secondly, the programme encourages employee involvement in selecting and supporting local social initiatives, promoting a sense of corporate responsibility and community engagement.
The winners in the four categories each received €48,487, except for one who received €28,487.
